Frankenmuth Files Homeowners Rate Increase in Michigan

Frankenmuth Insurance Company has filed for a 2% overall homeowners insurance rate increase in Michigan.

The change affects 89,439 policyholders representing $122.9 million in written premium and would generate approximately $2.5 million in additional premium. Individual policy changes range from a 17.3% decrease to a 13.2% increase.

Frankenmuth indicated a 3.5% increase but selected 2%. The filing revises base rates and factors for territory, coverage amount, home age and certain discounts, while increasing rates for several water backup coverage limits.

The company’s previous homeowners rate revision was an 8% increase effective November 1, 2025. The new filing is scheduled to take effect November 1, 2026, for new and renewal business.

Frankenmuth Insurance offers commercial coverage across 15 states, personal auto and home insurance in five states, and yacht insurance in Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Its surety subsidiary is licensed in 47 states.
