Canal Insurance Company filed in Idaho on September 5, 2025, to launch its “Driven” product, a hybrid mile/unit reporting program for Commercial Auto, Commercial General Liability, and Commercial Inland Marine, effective December 1, 2025.

The filing adds new reporting forms and user agreements for customers enrolling in “Driven by Canal,” which relies on telematics devices connected to vehicle OBD ports to capture mileage, driving behavior, location, and time-of-day data. This information is used for underwriting, rating, claims, and R&D.

Policyholders must keep devices installed and active; failure to maintain or tampering can trigger retroactive premium adjustments, cancellation, or legal action. Data collected remains the property of Canal.

The insurer is domiciled in South Carolina.
